Abstract

As part of the PhD, vocational and lifelong guidance are new paths in the Phd program. The history of vocational guidance is rooted within middle and high school and it has been introduced, just recently, at University. This paper intends to foster a reflection on the factors and purposes of vocational and lifelong guidance in the path of doctorate. Vocational guidance cannot be separated from lifelong guidance: one addresses the sense of professionalism in research, while the other outlines the skills and identity, supporting projects, and the concurrency. In this perspective, we describe some experiences of assessment and discuss the employability advantages at the workplace.
