Marco Agosti: da maestro autodidatta alla sperimentazione del Sistema dei reggenti

Forty years after the death of the Italian teacher and pedagogist Marco Agosti (1890-1983), the paper aims to reconstruct a brief biographical and pedagogical profile of the events that characterised the start of his teaching career and the subsequent experimentation of the Regents' System, one of the most original experiences of new education in Italy during Fascist period. Particular attention will be paid to the national and international scope of the experimentation conducted between 1931 and 1942, but also to the innovations introduced on the epistemological and methodological level of the elementary schools’ subject didactics.
