The third mission that looks to the future: for a sustainable, transformative, civic university

Abstract

After having reconstructed the meaning and historical path that led to the current definition of the Third Mission, this paper highlights the importance that the Third Mission has in identifying and implementing sustainability paths, strategies and solutions for the territory and in enabling Universities to regain awareness of their civic, political and transformative role, also through education.
