Toward a model of self-directed career management: a digital internship proposal

Abstract

The paper describes a digital internship proposal - Internship-ON - designed and tested at the University of Florence during the lockdown phase and addressed to master students of the educational area. The formative device is mainly guided by the constructs of self-directed guidance, self-directed learning, and career management and methodologically inspired by work-related learning methods and strategies. The paper presents phases and the main tools proposed as well as results from a first survey of participants' perception of effectiveness and functionality. Based on this first experience, research insights emerged toward a self-direct career management model to support students’ management of personal career development.
