Abstract

Almost a century after his death, Lev Semënovič Vygotskij (1896-1934) still represents, with his socio-cultural theory, a milestone in contemporary theorizing of special didactics and for the initial training of teachers. The volume was created with the aim of systematizing and providing a strong theoretical horizon to the based learning methodologies that place the learner at the center of the training process, rather than the programmatic content of the frontal lesson. The socio-constructivist paradigm originates from the very idea of culture and education that Vygotsky spreads through his writings, up to today's clinical models and psychological application. Tracing a unifying theory of psycho-pedagogical knowledge in relation to the issues of disability or innovative teaching methodologies is a path yet to be taken, in which Vygotskij certainly marked an important stage.
