Abstract

The paper outlines the experience of the Teaching Learning Center (TLC) at the University of Insubria, established to address challenges in educational innovation and the development of soft skills. Positioned within the context of Italian academic institutions, the TLC aims to enhance teaching practices and transversal competencies through training programs for both faculty and students. Initiated in 2022 to meet the certification needs for academic activities, the TLC's initiatives include the Faculty Development Program, courses leading to the awarding of Open Badges for students' soft skills, and research activities on educational innovation and transversal competencies. The article highlights the initial phase of the project, detailing achieved objectives, organizational structure, and encountered challenges. A perspective for future development is outlined, emphasizing the significance of educational innovation grounded in research. The conclusion underscores the University of Insubria's commitment to qualitatively improving teaching and advancing the standards of university instruction through the TLC.
