Abstract

Both Pestalozzi and Kerschensteiner put work at the center of popular education, as they considered vocational training the solution to the “educational emergency” caused, respectively, by the first and the second Industrial revolution. The present study shows how this idea gradually became clearer, proceeding from the first Pestalozzi’s insights to the theory of education developed a century later by Kerschensteiner
