Abstract

The paper aims to point out, by historicizing it, the reception of Giuseppe Lombardo Radice thought in the particular cultural and pedagogical context of the Brescia group revolving around the editor La Scuola. This shift happened in 1920s and 1930s, when the Sicilian pedagogist had been isolated by official channels of communication after he walked away from fascist regime and was in search of new intellectual partners to handle pedagogical conceptions with. Basing on common didactics theories, and thanks to the mediation of some intellectual figures as Mario Casotti, Lombardo Radice thought penetrated in Brescia Catholic environment, which was searching for an own path of activism to be meant as a Christian one. The reception of the Sicilian pedagogist, sometimes stretched, will lead to further evolution in the second post war, when one will try to build up a new school for the new republic.
