Abstract

Starting from the early praxis of popular education since 1861, the article aims to explore the connections among educational processes, culture, citizenship, people. Educational practices, capable of ensure and enhance the development of human potential and the respect of civil rights, are key resource in the contemporary society, characterized by civic disengament, populism, educational poverty. On this basis, pedagogical reflection on the link among people, culture and education is necessary in order to find strategies for promoting active citizenship and democratic cohesion.
