Current Korczak’s pedagogy. Personalization, empathy and communication in modern didactic

Abstract

Child’s self-determination and the educational relationship with teachers are themes characterizing the pedagogy of Korczak. This paper aims to describe how these concepts have influenced the processes of teaching personalization and stressed the value of empathy as an instrument of liberation of expressivity in children and adolescents. It will also be discussed how Korczak’s pedagogy can contribute to orient the acquisition of competence and the expression of the student’s personal potential and personal inclinations, and to improve teacher’s professionalism.
