Abstract
The aim of the article is to present a study of Fulvio Manara's thinking in connection with Don Lorenzo Milani's work. The themes of “silence” and “word” are emphasized in the dynamics of forming a research community, and in the perspective of acknowledging the significance of dialogue in the contexts of formal, informal, and non-formal education. The practice of freedom in education is defined as the meeting of silence and speech in a dialogical manner, which enables personal, but also social, and political change.
