Lorenzo Milani as a teacher and the School of Barbiana: possible suggestions for today teachers

Abstract

The article aims to present some considerations on the School of Barbiana, strongly wanted and daily lived by Lorenzo Milani.

After brief introduction concerned the Milani’s biography, it will be explained the most important reasons he decided to become teacher in Barbiana, a small mountain community of Mugello area (Tuscany). Then, it will be described the main aspects of the School he created because it was completely different from the school of the Milani’s time.

In the final part of the paper, it will be outlined some possible suggestions for the today teachers.
