Abstract

The article aims to develop a reflection on the conception of the use of time in don Milani's pedagogy. The priest's writings and the proposal put into practice in San Donato and Barbiana make it possible to highlight how a different articulation of the school day is necessary to overturn the foundations of education. A demanding management of children's time appears as an antidote, not without contradictions, against the risks of modernity. Full-time education would then be implemented in the early 1970s by the state, but with a very different connotation from that desired by the Florentine priest.
