Abstract

A central teaching tool in the training of the teachers in the last century was the textbook: first in the Scuola normale and, then, after the Gentile Reform of 1923, in the Istituto magistrale, which operated until 1998. The contribution aims to reconstruct how the work of the Agazzi sisters was presented by manuals - especially in the history of pedagogy textbooks - and how it was consolidated in the pedagogical imagination for generations of Italian teachers.
