Transformative Art in the Hands of Children and the Educational Value of the ‘Land’ in the Pedagogy of Rosa and Carolina Agazzi
Abstract
At a time when childhood seems to be constantly attracted (and distracted) by digital tools, the pedagogical testament of the Agazzi sisters resonates current and countercurrent as it invites us to consider the child in its wholeness and the creative art contained in its small hands as a form of intelligence that enables childhood to ‘make’, discover and transform reality. In the light of the above, the purpose of this article is to analyze the pedagogical intuition of the Mompiano educators to associate the child with the “cult of nature” and manual labor considering it as an integral educational and formative activity and an authentic invitation to renew school making.
